Dulux Trade Alkali Resisting Primer is solvent based and can be used on interior or exterior masonry or plaster that may contain alkalis.

Generally used where oil based paint finishes such as Dulux Trade Eggshell or Dulux Trade Weathershield All Seasons Masonry Paint are required over the surface. Using Alkali resisting primer prevents saponification* of the finish coats when alkali is present. 

It has an excellent capacity for stain blocking. Even fire damaged surfaces can be rigorously cleaned and rinsed, then sealed using this primer. Also great for sealing old powdery internal walls before lining.

Even surfaces treated with fire retardant chemicals or stained with nicotine can be primed with this solvent based primer.

*Note: Saponification is where oil based paint turns 'soapy' when alkali is present and not correctly sealed.
