Johnstone's Trade Durable Quick Dry Polyurethane Varnish

Preparation:

• Ensure all surfaces to be varnished are sound, clean, dry and free from dust, grease, polish or any other surface contaminant.
• Remove any flaking or cracked varnish.
• Sound, existing varnish should be rubbed down with fine waterproof abrasive paper, rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry.
• Do not prepare the surface using steel wool.
• Avoid the inhalation of dust.
• Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding.
• Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.

Application:

• Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.
• Stir thoroughly before use.
• Apply two or more coats of the varnish evenly, by brush along the grain, paying particular attention to the end grain.
• Do not overlap the brush strokes.
• On bare or new wood the first coat can be thinned with up to 10% clean water and followed by two coats of undiluted Johnston e's Trade Woodworks Durable Quick Dry Polyurethane Varnish.
• Sand down lightly between coats.
• Do not apply when temperatures are below 10°C.
• This product is not suitable for application over ferrous metal. 

PLEASE NOTE: Johnstone's Trade Woodworks Durable Quick Dry Polyurethane Varnish is naturally milky in appearance when wet. This will disappear when completely dry. The final colour will depend on the original colour of the wood and the number of coats applied. It is advisable to test for colour in an inconspicuous area first.

• Remove as much product as possible from brushes before cleaning.
• Clean equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
• Replace lid firmly.
• Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.
• Do not empty into drains or watercourses.

Do not use or store in extremes of temperature and protect from frost.
