Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint can be used for all kinds of metal, like railings, garden furniture and pots or even a balcony. Whilst many use Hammerite Metal Paint as a protective measure, it’s the perfect opportunity to give your metal items a new lease of life.
So, here’s how you can use Hammerite.
Begin by removing all loose rust and flaking paint from the metal using a wire brush.
If the metal was already painted, wash down thoroughly with diluted detergent, rinse with clean water to ensure there’s no soapy residue left.
Top tip: For the best results, lightly sand the surface to maximise the adhesion of the paint.
Before you begin painting, cover the surface below the metal object with a thick later newspaper or a dust sheet to catch any spills or drips.
To begin painting, stir the paint thoroughly and apply with a good quality brush.
Remember to use a brush that is reflective of the size of the object you’re painting. For example, use a narrow brush for painting railings, or a larger one for a bigger metal object, such as a table.
For the best finish, apply two thin coats of Hammerite Direct to Rust Metal Paint in Smooth. Remember to leave enough time between coats before applying another coat.
