changing rooms is back

The world is changing, interior design is changing, styles are changing, colours are changing… and whilst some may think things are better left in the past, there’s something in particular that’s re-emerging that has us here at Paint Direct rather excited.

You may have heard the news already........

It involves a certain Laurence Llewelyn Bowen.......

It’s Changing Rooms! You remember the show from the late 90s, that was the catalyst for home DIY becoming the trend to hop on? Well, it’s back with some new faces and (hopefully) fresh eyes to bring a modern spin on the popular programme. There were some ups and definitely some downs in décor choices from the original show (the floating shelf disaster still makes me cringe) but I've got a feeling that this time round we are going to see a whole lot of fashion wins.

Luckily, the new series will once again be featuring Laurence as one of the designers so you can rest assured that he will be bringing his strong style and luxurious aesthetic with him! I know what you want to ask and the answer is yes, he probably will be wearing his leather trousers! Fine wine comes to mind thinking about Laurence, and thankfully, he’s preserved all of his liveliness which will shine through the décor.

So who is joining our favourite flamboyant designer on screen?

Accompanying his royal -design- highness are two very charming interior experts Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead (2LG Studio).  “Wow!” doesn’t even begin to cover my thoughts after scrolling through their Instagram page. These guys take subtle, and what they do is they throw it right out of the window, and it just keeps going until it isn’t even a word anymore. Basically, what I am trying to say is that they clearly like to make a statement; with gorgeous unique furniture and colours I would be way too scared to paint on my wall. I think they are going to be really good for the show and it’s the perfect opportunity for them to leave their stylistic mark.

Anna Richardson will be hosting this time around and if you’re wondering where you have seen her before, let’s be real, it’s Naked Attraction – yes, don’t deny it, I know you watch it and as disappointing as it sounds, there will be NO naked people on Changing Rooms! (I hope). I am personally very excited to see her host as she will bring the calm to the storm and add a little extra fun to the mix.

To add another expert into the ring, we have BBC’s Carpenter of the Year (2012) Tibby Singh. He will serve as the talented joiner and carpenter for the show, having worked as a property developer and a carpentry influencer; it will be great to see what tips and tricks he will have for us! We will definitely have a lot to learn and I'm sure we will all be professional DIY-ers by the last episode!

Just to tie this gift up in a neat red bow, Changing Rooms is being sponsored by none other than Dulux!

Did you ever wonder, while watching them cover all four walls in some kind of purple (it happened on many occasions! What is it with purple?), what paint is that and where on earth can I get it?! Well now when you watch them design your dream room you know what they are using! Dulux has always been the go-to brand whether you’re painting the kitchen or the outside of your house – they are trusted by many to deliver a quality finish.

And what a coincidence, we sell Dulux paint! It will be easy to recreate any room style they make up on the show, all you have to do is come to our website!

Changing Rooms starts on Wednesday the 18th of August at 8pm on Channel 4, we will be watching, will you?
