Decorating Tips with Earthborn

What paint should I use?

First tip  – Earthborn.

Earthborn is one of our most popular brands and its not hard to see why! Earthborn paints are high performing and great quality designer paints. They are completely eco friendly which has been the case since they were founded in 2002.

Their formulas are breathable and choice of colours are carefully researched and created. We absolutely love the clay paint finish and highly recommend using their paints!

What finish should I be using?

Second tip - This choice is obvious for some, but for others it’s a little more tricky!

While these are main Earthborn products and most likely the only ones you will need, there are some extras you could consider.
 
Earthborn Eco Pro Matt is a high performance Matt paint specifically made for trade. It is only available in White but it is oil and acrylic free, minimal VOCs, Low odour and is very hard wearing. It’s a great environmentally friendly emulsion for your walls and ceilings and is great for new gypsum plaster.

Silicate Masonry is a highly breathable and weather resistant mineral paint. It is durable and dries to a classic matt finish and helps to prevent algae growth on your walls. This paint also has minimal VOCs and works together with the Silicate Primer.

What colour should I use?

Third tip -  Now that you have decided what your painting with, it is time to decide the colour. This is the tricky bit and as many pointers as I can give, ultimately the choice is yours.

Earthborn’s main colour range has 72 gorgeous colours with an array of shades from lighter, soft tones to deeper, pigmented colours. There are so many colours and combinations to choose from!

Now 84 colours is a lot to choose from and it can be overwhelming! Of course, there are factors to consider that can help narrow down the options such as shown in the diagram below….

Answering these questions should help you find a colour for your room.

For example “is the room small or large?”; a large room can hold a deeper colour as it has plenty of space whereas painting a small room with a dark colour will only make it look smaller. Whilst ultimately the choice is yours, consider using lighter shades to keep your room bright and open and help it to appear bigger.
 
Another thing to consider is your furniture.

They say not to base your furniture on the colour of your room, but to instead, choose a colour that will fit with the furniture you have already got.

This will save you money and the effort of trying to find new furniture to go with your new theme. However there is always the option of painting your furniture, this could be a good solution if a new makeover is what you’re looking for!
