Crown Trade PX4 is a stain-blocking, all-purpose primer specifically developed to achieve excellent adhesion, even on tricky surfaces.

PX4 is the water based version of PX3, offering protection from alkaline attack but also featuring the added advantage of a quick drying and low-odour finish.

It can be used on lots of interior and exterior surfaces such as glass, ceramic times, melamine and previously painted surfaces, as well as most wood and nonferrous metals, but not for use on walls (see Crown Trade Alkali Resisting Sealer).

This Primer has advanced technology and is great at blocking stubborn stains ready for topcoats.

Crown PX4 comes in White and works great under acrylic topcoats such as Eggshell, Satin and Fastflow Gloss or try using Clean Extreme finishes with it like Anti Bacterial Acrylic Eggshell, Mould Inhibiting Acrylic Eggshell.

Some variants are non-returnable.

Application Instructions

Preparation:

New Surfaces:

All surfaces must be sound, clean, suitably dry and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion of the materials to be applied.
On uncoated, porous wall and ceiling surfaces, the first coat can be thinned with up to 50% clean water.

Previously Decorated Surfaces:

All surfaces must be sound, clean, suitably dry and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion of the materials to be applied e.g. dirt, grease etc.
Remove all loose, failing or suspect paint.
Feather edges of sound paint.
Remove all dust.
Organic growth must be removed and the areas treated with a Fungicidal Solution.
Fill any fixing holes, cracks and shallow surface defects with Sandtex Trade Ready Mixed Filler.
Patch prime bare and filled areas with Crown Trade PX4 All Purpose Primer.
Wash remaining sound paint or any smoke or graffiti soiled areas (excluding water stains) with hot water and liquid detergent solution to remove any contaminants, frequently changing the water.
Any glossy or eggshell surfaces should be wet abraded to provide a key.
Rinse with clean water to remove all residues.
Allow to dry.
If after cleaning any areas are still contaminated with substances likely to cause staining and/or bleeding, patch prime with two coats of Crown Trade PX4 All Purpose Primer.
When used as a stain block primer two coats are recommended.

NOTE: A trial test area is recommended over severely stained or suspect surfaces. For extremely chalky, powdery, charred or unstable surfaces a Crown Trade stabilising solution should be used.
